Footnotes:
1 Up until 1/19/2007, this was the case, but presently the
cost is free until we find a new payment service.
2 Fee is paid quarterly based on anticipated maximum number
of users. See chart and other information about subscriptions at http://www.patentfetcher.com/Patent-Fetcher-Subscriptions.html.
3 Specifically,
publications with the following country code prefixes may be available:
AP, AT, BA, BE, BG, CA, CH, CY, DD, DE, DK, EE, EP, ES, FI, FR,
GB, GR, IE, IT, JP, LU, MC, NL, OA, PT, RO, RU, SE, SU, and WO.
Availability depends on whether or not the EPO Web site has images
of the requested
patent.
4 The
24-hour period is measured backward from the present.
5 Access
to free Patent Fetcher downloads of U.S. patents and published
applications is limited to 5 in the most recent 24 hour
period, and is calculated on
a per connection (IP address) basis, so it's possible that if
multiple people share your connection, then it will affect this
tally. After
the first 5 downloads, you can download 5 more patents or application
during the same 24 hour period, but each will download much more
slowly than the previous one, and will also be stamped at the
bottom of each
page with a credit and clickable link to Patent Fetcher.
6 Unlimited
within reason, and as determined by the subscription level subscribed
to.
7 Because bandwidth costs money, the bandwidth allocated
to the free site is low. As such, when multiple downloads are occurring
simultaneously, downloads will be noticably slower than during off-peak
periods. Furthermore, when a given user's allotment of 5 free downloads
during the most recent 24 hour period is used up, he/she may download,
but at a much slower download rate than for the first 5 patents, up
to a total of 10 downloads. Note that this number is calculated based
on your Internet connection. If you are in an office and find your
download counts to be more than what you have yourself downloaded,
it means others sharing the same Internet connection you use at your
office are also using Patent Fetcher.
8 A
certain amount of bandwidth is allocated to each subscription
based on the subscripton level subscribed to and paid for. Peak
usage may result in slightly slower (although not likely noticable)
download speeds.
9 This feature is planned for deployment during Q2 2007.
